The place where Jeju’s God-given superb nature and culture meet, THE SHILLA JEJU Soombi Garden.
Each season has different colors and cool breezes, the fragrant scent of grasses, and the sounds of nature, making a memorable story in Soombi Garden. ‘Soombi‘ is the sound made when Jeju’s women divers dived in and got out of water to take the first breath.
We named the Garden ‘Soombi’ to welcome our guest’s first step to THE SHILLA with a comfortable and energetic beginning.
We give out free brochures that contain a mini map of Soombi Garden for visitors to THE SHILLA JEJU. In the brochure, there is a map to help you find the most beautiful spots in Soombi Garden with interesting stories relating to them enhanced and written by famous writer Jo Jeong-Rae.

Baeknok Fountain
Baeknok Fountain is located at the front gate of
THE SHILLA JEJU and is the best spot to see
Halla Mountain. The legendary white deer may
be seen in good weather.
Ollaebar Terrace
Ollae is a unique space made in Jeju’s architectural style, The distinctive Jeju traditional house with no gate is applied to the house and connected to a long alley. Jeju people feel the warmness of family and the dim nostalgia of childhood in Ollae. We named Ollae bar terrace to create warm emotions and coziness for guests visiting THE SHILLA JEJU.
Terrace Stairs
The center passage of Soombi Garden and the garden can be seen in one view. This is the spot where VIPs from many countries visiting THE SHILLA JEJU moved up and down the stairs and were spotlighted by the media.

Ryu and Yeon Pond
The energetic motions of a school of carp infuse energy into Soombi Garden. Throw coins at the sculpture of a boy placed in the center of the pond and wish for your dream. The carp in beautiful colors might become the messenger of wishes to make your dream come true.
Summit Conference Room
In 1996, April 15th, after Korea and the US. Summit meeting of former presidents Kim Young-Sam and Bill Clinton, THE SHILLA JEJU ,harmonizing with the blue ocean, took pride in its gorgeous appearance before the whole world. With international reputation obtained, this spot was named and was commemorated as the ‘Summit Conference Room’.
Swiri Bench
A bench with two quiet and lonesome pine trees. This spot featuring the cool Jeju view of broad ocean was the location of the famous final scene of Korea’s first blockbuster movie “‘Swiri”.. You can spend some time enjoying a moment of relief from business and the most beautiful sunrise and sunset here with the sound of waves and sunlight shining through the branches of the trees.
Agave and Pampas grass garden
More elegance is added during fall and winter time in The Pampas grass garden. The peaceful atmosphere of a wild pampas grass field spreads out beyond far-off hilsl. An exotic mood can be enjoyed with the Agave that blow once every 100years.
First Love Hill and Postbox
You can find a red postbox that symbolizes the meaning of first love when you reach the ocean observatory though Yongsanhong (Rhododendron indicum) hill. Remember your first love with Fetching Yeongsanhong , the serene bench and the chaming red postbox.
Ocean Stairs
You can enjoy the passage to the ocean along with widely spread blue scenery and the scent of overgrown grasses. Feel the fresh trees and grass and the scent of ocean by going along the stairs barefoot in early morning.
