IDeoksugung (Palace) (or Gyeongwoongung) was the main stage for the modern history of Korea. It is the only palace in Korea that has near-modern buildings and Western-style gardens as well as a fountain, combining the medieval and the modern.
Deoksugung Palace was the main palace during the Daehanjeguk period of late Joseon Dynasty and is famous for its elegant stone-wall road. The name Deoksugung means “Palace of Virtue” and signifies longevity in the spirit of praying for long life for King Go Jong.
